Sustainable Future Arboretum

The Sustainable Future Arboretum was established in 2020 at SVEC’s Rockingham headquarters. It serves as an educational space featuring examples of renewable energy and environmental stewardship. The 3.5 acre arboretum is home to a wide array of trees and pollinator-friendly flowers, as well as multiple solar arrays.

The arboretum is a special project of SVEC’s vegetation management department. The efforts of this team will serve to educate members about renewable energy, provide a pollinator habitat for our community and illustrate how nature and civilization can flourish together. This space is recognized as a utility-friendly arboretum by Look Up, Virginia! and implements SVEC’s Right Tree Right Place program.

We appreciate support from our vegetation management contractors Aerial Solutions, Xylem Tree Experts and Weed Control Inc. as well as Reading Landscapes Inc. and the Virginia Department of Forestry. Thanks to their donations and labor, this project was made possible at no cost to our members.
