About 40 high school juniors and seniors from Winchester and Frederick County spent a few hours with SVEC lineworkers on Oct. 19 to learn more about their job.
The "Day in the Life of a Lineworker" program gives students a glimpse at the career path toward becoming a lineworker, the safety elements of the industry, and an opportunity to perform lineworker tasks during demonstrations. Southside Virginia Community College also presented information on its powerline training program.
SVEC plans to rotate the program among its five districts.
