Youth Tour

4/28/21: Because of the risk of exposure to the novel coronavirus, Youth Tour 2021 in Washington, D.C., has been canceled. Through the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives, SVEC is excited to participate in a revised event in Williamsburg.

The 2021 Youth Tour, open to high school juniors whose parents or guardians are SVEC members, will be held July 28-30 in Williamsburg. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will provide students an opportunity to meet one-on-one with legislators and learn more about U.S. history, politics and electric cooperatives. Recreational opportunities are offered as well, with possibilities including a ghost tour, Busch Gardens, river tour and visit to NASA.

To participate in the program, students must be high school juniors and their parent(s) or guardian(s) must receive electric service from Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative.  Final selection is based on an application and a personal interview.
