Michael W. Hastings became the sixth president and CEO of Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative in August 2016. He has more than 28 years of service with electric cooperatives and their member-owners.
Before arriving at SVEC, Michael served as President & CEO of Jo-Carroll Energy, Inc., an electric distribution cooperative in northwestern Illinois. He previously worked at the Illinois statewide association of electric cooperatives.

Michael holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Illinois and a law degree from Washburn University. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Kansas-Wesleyan University.

Michael and his wife, Shauna, live in Rockingham County and have three grown children.

SVEC is governed by a democratically elected board of directors. Directors serve four-year terms.

SVEC’s senior staff is charged with overseeing the day-to-day success of the cooperative.
