Since 1992, Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) has awarded scholarships to deserving high school seniors in the region that it serves. In the years since the scholarship has been awarded, the cooperative has given back more than $120,000 to the community.

Ten scholarships valued at $1,000 each will be awarded in 2020.

Meet the 2020 Recipients

The requirements for a student to apply for the scholarship are:

  • Their parents, or guardians, must be members of Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative;
  • The student’s permanent residence must be where their parents or guardians have SVEC membership;
  • The applicant must live at the permanent residence at the time of applying.
  • The student must be a high school senior.

State Association Scholarships

Since 2001, the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives’ (VMDAEC) Education Foundation has awarded scholarships to high school or home school senior whose primary residence is served by an electric cooperative.
