Youth Tour

capitol-2In 2019, Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative sponsored an all-expense-paid trip for three current high school juniors to Washington, D.C., to attend the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. More than 1,600 students from 44 states attended.  Students learned more about their country, American history, cooperatives and interacted with their elected officials.

The Youth Tour is five exciting days packed with activities in our Nation’s capital, and a great opportunity for students to see their nation’s capital up close, learn about the political process, and meet peers from across the country.

Information about the 2020 Youth Tour will be posted as it becomes available. Please check back soon!

To participate in the program, students must be high school juniors and their parent(s) or guardian(s) must receive electric service from Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative.  Final selection is based on an application and a personal interview.
