Energy Choice

Virginia Energy Choice is the Commonwealth's effort to introduce Virginians to the new way they could be purchasing  their electric energy supply. Currently, for those consumers using less than 5 megawatts of power, one utility company has the exclusive right to provide all components of electric service - generation/supply, transmission and distribution - within a specific geographic area in Virginia.

For members using over 5 megawatts of electricity, many different companies ( "Competitive Service Providers" or "CSPs") may compete to be a consumer's energy provider, thus allowing these members to shop for energy supply service. Please click on the above link for more information.
